Theo and Elisicia - Engagement Session

What a great time we had with Theo and Elisicia at Granville Island! These two were constantly laughing, joking, and of course, cuddling throughout their session. Their engagement session and wedding (which is happening this weekend) will be a bit of a whirlwind, as Theo and Elisicia both live in merry old England and will be heading back fairly soon after the wedding (Theo just arrived last Friday!) They will be having an amazing and unique "vintage glam" theme for their big day - Elisicia has let me in on a few of the details and let me just say I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Also, they both have about the coolest hairstyles I have ever seen. We had a lot of fun at their engagement session and we are so excited for their Canada Day wedding!

Sharon and Andrew - Engagement Session

I have to say, when Andrew said to me "I brought a prop" at our engagement session, I didn't know what to expect! Needless to say, I was very excited when he pointed to the parking lot where his shiny Harley Davidson motorcycle was parked! It was a blast photographing these two on the bike and throughout the park near their new home in Port Moody. This area clearly holds a lot of special meaning for these two and it was really neat to hear about the stories of their romance as we walked around. It also became evident early on that Sharon and Andrew have a lot of fun together, which made them a pleasure to photograph (in between laughs and some Monty Python references!) Chris and I are really looking forward to their big day later this month!

Jennifer and Scott - May 19, 2007

Until now, we have never had a day where the groom doubled as a seamstress - but when a button popped off of Scott's jacket, he was quite nimble with a needle and thread! Good thing too, as he had a wedding ceremony to go to where he would marry the lovely Jennifer. Conveniently the only time we had rain was during the half hour ceremony, which I'm sure was due to my incessant praying to the Rain Gods the night before! The wedding at Minoru Chapel was followed by a photo shoot at various locations around Richmond, during which we had a great time photographing the bridal party and bride and groom. Jennifer and Scott's bridal party was quite unique, as four members were Jennifer and Scott's children - what a wonderful way to include them in the big day! Thanks again to Jennifer and Scott for having us as your photographers!

Jewellery Artists Moving Sale!

Our favourite goldsmiths, Jewellery Artists 3D, are having a massive sale as they prepare to move into a shiny new store. From now until 5pm on Saturday, June 23, every item in their showcases will be 50% off! You can check it out at 10111 No. 3 Road in Richmond (they're inside Broadmoor Mall). David and Jennifer are the owners of the 30-year old business, David having inherited the store when it was originally called Penner Goldsmiths. On top of their in-store pieces, David and Jennifer also offer custom designs, created with amazing 3D software that lets you preview your actual piece of jewellery before the gold is poured and the jewels set. They are incredibly knowledgeable and very gifted in their craft - we know from experience, since my engagement ring and our wedding bands came from Jewellery Artists 3D!

Published in Real Weddings!

If you haven't seen the new issue of Real Weddings magazine, go to your local newsstand and buy one! Not only do we have a wedding story published in this issue, but the magazine itself is full of amazing content and beautifully designed. We were very excited when we found out one of our weddings would be part of this issue, and a huge thanks goes out to Nooneh and Chris whose wedding is the subject of the article. Along with our images there is beautiful story and interview with Nooneh and Chris, documenting how they met, got engaged, and then got hitched! Thanks again to Nooneh and Chris and to the good folks over at Real Weddings!

Laura and Ashley - Engagement Session

It's interesting how you can go to a location several times over, and find a different way to photograph it every time. Iona Beach is a perfect example of this - although we have done a few engagement sessions there this year, each one produces distinctively different images. Part of being a photographer is being able to see new possibilities in the same places you've been before, and being able to produce creative images each time you click the shutter. I think we did just that at Laura and Ashley's session - we had some amazing lighting, courtesy of a bright sunset in the west and very dark moody clouds in the east. The best part about this session is actually what Laura and Ashley had to say afterwards; in an email, Laura explained that they were a little nervous in front of the camera, but that we made them feel completely comfortable - what a great compliment! I think we got some fabulous images that day and we're looking forward to Laura and Ashley's wedding in July!

Vicky and Ken - Engagement Session

It's always fun when couples bring along their furry companion for their engagement sessions, and Teddy was no exception! Vicky and Ken brought along young, happy Teddy for some of their shots, and he was a perfect model for the camera. Later on we focused on just Vicky and Ken, and walked around beautiful Jericho Beach and park searching for just the right background. I continued my "photography with dumpsters" theme (see Vanessa and Jason's engagement session below) by shooting Vicky and Ken in front of a very cool bright red dumpster, which was oddly enough sitting right there on the beach. Of course we also did lots of photos with the gorgeous mountains, water and city view provided by Jericho Beach. Thanks to Ken and Vicky for the great session - your big day in September sounds amazing!
