Bright Light City

We just got back from a 5-day photography convention in Las Vegas and let me just say that it was intense! Every day was jam-packed with amazing seminars by fantastic and inspirational speakers, while the evenings were filled with plenty of social time getting to know our fellow photographers from around the world. The best part though, was hanging out and having fun with the other photographers from right here in Vancouver (yes, the "competition!") I honestly think there were more photographers from Vancouver than any other city represented at the convention (we counted up to 25 and then lost count). I am truly proud that there is so much talent in our beautiful city and that there were so many attending the convention, all in an effort to improve our craft and elevate our work to an even higher level. Totally fantastic!

One of the convention days was spent out in a desert lake bed, about 30 minutes outside of the Las Vegas strip. We attended a demonstration shoot by two incredibly talented American photographers, John Michael Cooper and David Beckstead. We got to watch as they shot some amazing images of a very gorgeous bride and groom and a '64 red convertible Thunderbird. As they shot they narrated and talked about their techniques and inspiration, which we found fascinating. We also got to shoot a few pics "over their shoulders" so to speak, which are posted below. It was a fabulous location and an excellent and interactive seminar!
